Here is my beautiful bike. The more I ride it, the more I like it. There are things about it I don't like, but there's no mistaking the feeling I get from it....
I have plans for it.....taking it far from where it started. In a barn. Better than barnfresh, though, good enough that it was like a diamond in the rough. I knew teh carbs had to be cleaned, and so did the rest of any of the bike that could be seen, but I really wanted to get it runing. Honda CB750, legendary motorcycle. Daytona! All the hype...I was just hoping it was gonna give me something that was lacking with that 550.
Drained the carbs....beautiful....liquid comes out. That meant there was a reasonable chance it would start and run well without needing to clean the rack of carbs....fresh gas, fresh plugs, fresh oil, frozen front brake not fixed yet, and 100 kicks later (the battery died after just a few revolutions).....we had life! Original 4-4 pipes, mean sound, not like anything else out there....
Those are the reminiscing days of this bike...We have come a long way with some special additions. Nicer tank with the same paintjob, nicer set of 4-4 pipes, steering and swingarm bearings, goldwing aluminum front rim, dual front discs, Boyer electronic ignition, currently Raask rearsets, almost perfect seat, performance rear shocks, Progressive front springs, sticky tires, opened up air box and pipes, and jetted it. It performs very well, is strong and healthy, and lots of fun.
The future holds a different bike...900cc big bore kit, power camshaft, large carbs, drilled discs, possibly a CB750F rear disc spoke wheel setup, for the real period look! I am trying to go for a period hot rod, but may have to cheat when it comes to the carbs...we'll see....
Update - its 2007, and this bike is still my baby. We took a slight crash when some bozo ran us off the road, but that didn't stop anything. Well, it certainly slowed my penchant for riding on the street. But some years have passed, a new project is in order, and this baby may get to retire soon. I'd say almost 70K miles, with about 25K of them under my strong wrist....thats a reliable bike!
